Alternative Energy Solutions is gearing up for demonstration day. The prototype circuit has been cleaned up and last minute hurdles have been cleared in preparation for tomorrows demonstration day in the Engineering Lab Wing (ELW) from 4 - 7pm. 95% of the designed rated output voltage is now available across the entire designed operational input voltage range. Power factor correction has improved significantly over the last few days, but still requires some work.

Alternative Energy Solutions continues on fine tuning the AC to DC circuit. Current output voltage is up to 97% of the designed 220 VDC for a typical operating input voltage. Only 63% of the desired output voltage is available at the designed low input voltage. Stay tuned for further progress....
Sunday July 16, 2006
Alternative Energy Solutions demonstrated a mostly working AC to DC Booster Circuit, working to about 80% of expected output voltage. Improvements are expected to come after performing fine tuning adjustments next week. Stay tuned.....

Alternative Energy Solutions drasticly changes the AC to DC circuit design. After a month of programming the ATMEL Atmeg8 to emulate the controls of the UC3855 IC, AES shifts gears and works directly with the UC3855 chip. The UC3855 is a chip specificly designed for an AC to DC, ZVS, PFC application.

Alternative Energy Solutions welcomes Jim Rippon into the group to help with AES's next project: AC to DC Boost Converter.
Monday April 3, 2006
AES successfully demonstrated their DC to DC Boost Converter at the IEEE and ECE Student Project Demonstration Night on Friday March 31, 2006. The project was well received and AES is looking forward to building on this recent success.
