CIVE345 - Fluid Mechanics

Description

Properties of fluids. Basic flow analysis techniques. Basic concepts: velocity field, stress, flow patterns, classification of fluid motion. Fluid statics: pressure distribution; hydrostatic forces on submerged surfaces; buoyancy and stability. Integral analysis of fluid motion: conservation of mass, momentum balance, energy balance. Dimensional analysis and similitude. Laminar and turbulent flow in pipes and pipe systems. Flow measurement.
