PHIL208 - Introduction to Islamic Philosophy

Description

Islamic philosophy from the 9th - 12th century CE. Topics include a brief introduction to ancient Greek philosophy that was influential on Muslim thinkers and an introduction to the thought of al-Farabi, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), al-Ghazali (Algazel) and Ibn Rushd (Averroes). Their influence on medieval European philosophy is also discussed.
