Acknowledges and builds on prior knowledge of communication skills and includes activities that elicit perspectives emerging from their own experience. Designed to provide students with opportunities to learn and practice helping skills used by professional child and youth care workers in situations requiring interventions. Throughout the course the perspectives of the Indigenous community re: communication skills for professional helpers is elicited from Elders and students.
