Description

Examines the politics, economy and society of modern Egypt, from the French invasion in 1798 to the mass protests in Tahrir Square in 2011. Themes include the intervention by outside powers, the rise of national identity, the struggle for political independence and economic development, the genealogy of the army and the politics of religion and gender.
